Hello and Welcome

Hey there, welcome to Mixing Media, a media review newsletter by me, StorySomatic. This will be the place where I give my full thoughts on all the different media I consume. From comics and manga, movies and tv, books and podcasts, I try to cover a bit of everything. In addition to full reviews and analysis, I’ll also be doing monthly recaps where I discuss my favorite things that I come across in a given month to recommend to you all. This is my outlet to spread the good news on artists who I think are performing at the top of their game, and to hopefully introduce you, my loyal audience, to pieces that I think you will like.

This is very much an experiment for me. I’m not as strong of a reader, critic, or analyst as I would like to be. By putting my work out here, I’m hoping to grow my skills and eventually a community. If you have any recommendations or feedback, please feel free to get in touch. I want to make this a good space for all of us, and I’m open to critique. It’s certainly only fair if I’m going to try to be doing that for others.

For now, you can expect at least one newsletter in your inbox every week. Hopefully as I become more practiced, I’ll be able to draft and write pieces faster, but for now trying to guarantee one a week is probably for the best. I’m currently reviewing my favorite things of 2024, but soon we’ll be moving on to reviews, analysis, and commentary. I hope you stick around.
